Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Using the TI-Smartview Emulator is a great way to teach different mathematical concepts visually. Students can follow instructions while they are working with the calculator at their desks and they can see how concepts connect analytically, numerically and graphically.

Due to COVID-19, there was a period of about 18 months years when a lot of students did not have the opportunity to develop and strengthen their math calculator skills.

Students engaged online problem-solver websites as a shortcut to arriving at answers and got used to these websites when they came back to in-person learning. This emulator software can help close that gap!

I believe that I can still give my kids the opportunity to experience the practical steps that led to the correct answer using their graphing calculators. While looking at the emulator screen, students can easily navigate the built-in functions in their calculators and make connections between the numerical, graphical and algebraic representations of functions. For example, the TI84 calculator is a valuable tool to help students understand, at times, difficult concepts of domain and range of functions. Students can look at the graphs of the functions as well as the tables created by the calculator to visualize and better understand the concept. They can also explore the settings to see how changing the domain and the range of different functions affects the graph.

This tool will definitely motivate them to do more math, and achieve more than they think is possible.
