Help me give my students a chance to tell their story through photography. They will use a DSLR to learn photo composition, and an instant-style camera to create a class photo album.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I teach at a public junior high in northern Utah. This particular school has a large student body, well over 1,100. There is a great variety of talents in the school. Many of the students excel at sports, and there is a great number who love to participate in the school's various music programs. Regardless of what their talents are, how social or quiet they tend to be, my students love to tell stories in their own creative ways. Their favorite projects have been those that let them take control of their learning and apply it to their lives. Some have written graphic novels describing experiences from their lives, others have produced podcasts describing what they plan to do as they advance through school and into their careers. Though there are many students at our school, and though many have had to adapt to greater isolation because of the pandemic, they have still been able to make their stories known.
My Project
Many students have been isolated because of the pandemic. Many have missed large amounts of school and haven't been able to see their friends and classmates. All students have learned something from their experience in the pandemic. One of the greatest advantages of photography is that it can be digitally shared regardless of where the student is, whether in class or at home. Students can use photography to show their classmates what they see, what they've learned, and who they are. Photography is one of the most powerful ways to express oneself, and being able to provide them the resources to begin their journey with photography is essential. These materials will help decrease the technology to student ratio, providing easier access for students to get their hands on a basic DSLR camera and begin developing their skills.
