We are located in the District of Columbia. We are a Title I school, serving a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic student population. Students at my school feel valued by the work we do around identity, respect, and tolerance of all people. My students are part of our dual-language program where they receive instruction in English and in Spanish. In my class, in particular, students are learning math and literacy concepts in Spanish!
Despite our challenges, our motto is "Good better best, never let it rest, until our good gets better and our better gets best!"
This year has been a challenging year in that we have had several instances where learning has been interrupted due to students having to quarantine because they were considered a close contact to another student/individual or have contracted the COVID-19 virus.
It would be awesome if we could provide our students and families with quality masks that would better help protect our students while in school.
KN95 masks reduce the amount of dust or virus particles a person breathes in by approximately 95 percent! Studies have shown that if you are exposed to the virus while wearing a KN95 mask, you are less likely to develop COVID-19. That would be such a benefit in helping us keep students safe, in school, and learning!
Additionally, being able to check their temperature would go a long way in being able to slow the spread by helping to identify and detect potential illnesses. That's why I am also requesting a thermometer for each one of my students and families that they can use at home to better identify the well-being of their child.
