My Students

The students in our specialized elementary school are part of a supportive community where each learn to advocate for themselves and be an independent person to their full potential. They all have unique strengths and perspectives to share with one another and the staff.

The school consists of small class sizes from 8 to 12 to accommodate the learning needs of our students.

Some of our students use alternate methods for communication and written work. They bring a wide range of personality and interest to all of their academic challenges.

My students are curious, eager to learn, and seeking "real world" out-of-the box experiences.

My Project

The student population in my school is made up of students with abilities and disabilities, who will need to obtain the skills to have a job and to achieve their greatest level of independence within the larger world community. They have diagnoses that include autism, Down syndrome, and learning disabilities. Project-based learning provides an opportunity for my students to learn the multifaceted aspects of running a small juice bar cafe to use academic skills such as math (measurement, money management) and reading (writing a menu, following recipes) and beyond. Please help our students on this exciting and motivating adventure!
