I work with a wonderful group of students with special needs. I have students with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and multiple disabilities. My students are cheerful and love to learn. My students have differing ability levels, from non-verbal to reading on a kindergarten level. My students benefit from differentiated activities/materials and a hands-on learning experience. Visual and tactile materials help my students engage. These students require a small self-contained Special Education classroom. Our school is an excellent school which caters to students with disabilities.
My Project
I work with a class of 3rd grade students with special needs. Some of my students come from low income homes and do not have some essential care items. I will give students these materials to help them take care of their hygiene and dress.
These materials will help students to come to school with a clean shirt, a clean body, and a backpack!
The materials include tooth brushes, shampoo, lunch boxes, basic white shirts, and backpacks for students in desperate need of life essentials. Parents and children will be so grateful to receive these supplies for self care. Students are currently learning about dental hygiene in school and can practice with their new tooth brushes! These items are a wonderful way to better my students lives are prepare them for a great day at school!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
