Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a second-grade teacher in a dual language program in the Bronx. I currently have 32 students in my classroom! My students absolutely love reading and miss having access to books in our classroom library. Many of our students are learning from home and have limited access to books. Although students have the opportunity to read books online for free, they miss being able to hold a book and turn the pages of their series.

Given the situation with COVID-19, it’s more important than ever that children are provided with opportunities to have a collection of books to access at home.

My Project

Having access to an iPad will serve in multiple ways. I am currently teaching remotely and encounter difficulty seeing all my students on one screen when they are logged in. If I were to have access to an additional device, I would be able to log into the i-Pad to view all my students and use the computer for instruction, such as PowerPoint presentations. As an Early Childhood Educator, I find it crucial to be able to see all my students as they engage in their assignments. In addition, the tablet will be utilized to provide students with child-friendly on their work, as this is challenging using a computer and not having access to specific apps.
