My Project

What I love about my students is the fact that when things get competitive they are willing to show their skills. They enjoy picking up a whiteboard and reflecting their answers to the teacher. The best part is they enjoy working for the reward but most importantly they are building up their spotlight Experiences.

The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math.

Using math stations allows students to come to the small group station and work through guided practice and record modeled strategies. Using the whiteboards allows me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provides an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional opportunities to show their work more effectively and not just with the traditional paper and pencil way. My students enjoy working on the whiteboards and playing interactive games where they have to solve and hold up their answers. They benefit from the reinforcement of the Starburst and Jolly Ranchers because it increases their momentum to want to solve more problems. They enjoy the praise and reward of both solving their mathematical problems correctly and getting the tangible reward.
