Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have a very diverse student population of almost 1500 students. Our students love school. It is a safe haven for them in a rough neighborhood. They arrive early for breakfast and stay late for our after-school program. We hope to give them opportunities that will encourage and change their lives forever. It's clubs like Knight's Council (Student Council) that help build future leaders.

We push our students to be critical thinkers and leaders within our school and their community.

When our students graduate from our school they leave ready to enter the workforce or college. Our students know that once they graduate they will have a bright future.

Over 97% of the students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and more than half are learning English as a second. We want our students to know that education is the key to their success.

My Project

My Student Council students need resources to make our student events and activities magical! My students are the heart of the school and the community! They work hard to represent our school, organize dances and community events. The instant camera with the film will be used in the photo booth at our winter dance. The speaker will give us Bluetooth access to music, and the Silhouette Cameo will allow my students to create signs to promote upcoming events. This opportunity will provide my students with real-world skills to encourage positivity and community during a challenging time for many. The funding of this project will give students a chance to be a part of something they love!
