Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are kindergarten and 1st grade students who are in the classroom two days a week and three days a week working one on one with their families. They are amazing children whose actions always come from their hearts. We spend our days in the classroom with lots of hands-on activities that get us up and moving. My school focuses on learning through classical education. Students are encouraged to play a major role in their personalized learning plan through goal setting and project based learning. The children have voice and choice in their daily learning.

My Project

My students love to learn about nature to do their work outside. We currently have a school garden area with seven raised garden beds that is boring an uninviting.

My students would love to have a fun, inviting, and beautiful outdoor space where they are encouraged to learn and enjoy nature.

I want my students to feel inspired to imagine, create art, and learn both inside and outside the classroom.

I would love for my students to be able to sit on the ground using either the mats or the blankets. They could also choose to sit on one of two log benches where they could participate in small group lessons using the whiteboards and markers or create their own art using the easel. My students would be inspired by the beautiful wind spinners and the birds invited to our garden by the bird feeders. All students at our school would be invited to come relax in the garden, create art, and watch the local birds come to eat. The bird seed and white board materials would be stored in the plastic tubs to keep our student-centered learning space organized.
