My Students

I teach in an ICT classroom with 25 students. All students come from low-income households and many live in shelters. All students receive free breakfast and lunch everyday. They come to school everyday ready to learn and often don't want to go home because they want to continue learning.

My students are special because they are tenacious and they motivate and inspire me to be the best role model and teacher for them.

What I love about my students is there eagerness to learn. I am not only their teacher but I am their champion away from home.

My Project

The materials will help build a student center based learning environment. It will help students build on their kinesthetic, visual and sensory skills during both math and literacy. Student center based learning provides a clear-cut area for learning in the classroom. Students know what is expected of the them and they learn how to successfully master the skill being taught to them in that specific center whether it is literacy, math, or science.

The Crayola Modeling Clay for kids, and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Play Sand will be used during literacy center stations to help students make and build letters/words to help with their phonemic and phonological awareness .

The Decoding Flashcards and Think Fun Zingo Sight Words Early Reading Games will be used during literacy stations to make decoding words and learning new sight words engaging. The Learning Resources Giant Magnetic Number Bonds and ,Learning Resources Giant Magnetic Ten Frame and The Learning Journey Match It will provide students opportunity to learn and put into use different math strategies. The math materials will help make students visible to the students and teacher and teach them how to become a critical thinker.
