Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My school s a hybrid campus that serves 6-12 graders. Last year, I had the privilege of re-establishing a cross country (XC) team on our campus. By the end of season last year, our team included 20+ students in grades 6-8. This year, our team will be a little older, stronger, and bigger. We are expecting to have 35+ athletes participate in XC this year. Unfortunately, student funds are very limited.

These uniforms would not only help our students to reach their full running potentials in comfortable athletic clothes, but also to feel like part of a real team.

Purchasing athletic clothes presents a financial challenge for our students and their parents/guardians. While we can’t provide running shoes to every interested athlete, I am hopeful we can ease some of the financial burden of participating in this sport.

Cross country is a wonderful outlet for high-energy students. It’s a (mostly) individual sport that fosters a spirit of endurance and accountability in young athletes. Help our team to put our best foot forward for events with matching uniforms.
