This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What child does not like hands on activities that involve magnetic games? As a teacher of students with special needs, finding that spark that will capture their interest and love of learning is key. My role is to help my students develop their language and literacy skills.

I provide special education services to some amazing students in grades K-3.

These students have a variety of needs including learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, autism, and severe cognitive impairments, to name a few. They face many challenges and require different modes of instruction in order for them to gain access to an education. Many are English Language Learners. Our school is located in a large urban city in CT. I have the rare opportunity of turning these students on to learning. It is a privilege to work with these special students who are near and dear to me.

My Project

These materials are perfect because they are structured, visual, and engaging. The magnetic language centers will provide a hands-on opportunity for learning letters and sounds. The magnetic charts will provide constant visual support of the instruction. The materials in this project will help to reinforce the activities and lessons that the students are learning. Our students will learn skills such as sequencing, matching, and sorting! I hope to combine reading, writing, language, and fun with these classroom activities. My students deserve the best the world has to give them. My hope is to provide activities and lessons that will teach them the necessary skills to succeed in life! Thank you!

Students with special needs face challenges making it difficult to understand and relate to what they learn in school.

Many of my students are turned off by school because they haven't had much success. Hands-on activities, visuals, and thematic units build schema leading to confidence across the curriculum!
