My Students

Every time I walk into a classroom, I know that the students are depending on me to give them an experience that they will love! Playing music together does that. And when they learn how to play the ukulele, they will experience the kind of hands-on, authentic instruction that they crave.

My students—although mostly considered high poverty—define diversity, coming from a wide variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Their commonality as young Angelenos is setting the stage for how they view the world.

The energetic and communicative way they express themselves through music tells me so much about them, and I cherish that opportunity. My school is one of many with little funding for the arts.

My Project

I love teaching music to students from third grade through sixth grade. All of the students love learning how to drum, and many of the students can play the recorder, too. The students love singing and playing instruments. I want to add the ukulele to their musical experience.

I have requested 27 ukuleles so my students can begin to learn how to play this wonderful instrument.

We will sing along with the music we strum on the ukuleles. Your help donating to this project means that many students for years to come will enjoy playing this wonderful instrument that is fun to play!
