This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work as part of a team to support struggling readers. We work with students K-6. Some of these children have diagnosed learning challenges, others have had interrupted schooling, and others are new to the country and learning English. For the younger students, we have plenty of options, sets and collections of decodable texts to provide equitable literacy instruction. But for the older students, we have much fewer options.

We need a good selection of texts for older students that are still at an early reading level.

This way, they receive instruction at thier academic level, but where the texts feel engaging and age-appropriate. These 2 collections are intended for older students, but still require only early reading skills. I hope this is exactly what we need to better serve students. Thank you!
