My Students

I haven't even met my new students yet, but I can already tell you that they going to be something special!

When I think of resilience, I think of my students.

When I think of determination, I think of my students. When I think of love, kindness, growth, and desire, I think of my students. The past school year was difficult for my students as our school shut down due to the global pandemic. My students lost the sense of community that our classroom provided and I want to be sure that I am able to provide everything my new students need for a strong start to our year!

From the reality of living in a large urban city that has been plagued by decades of segregation, my students have faced many obstacles in their young lives beyond the pandemic. However, they are the future of Chicago, the future of the United States, and the future of our world. They deserve school supplies and snacks that will set them up for a successful year!

My Project

Your support will help provide my students with individual school supplies and snacks to engage in learning at home and school. More than ever, it is imperative that students have access to high-quality supplies that they do not have to share with others. Although a final decision has not been made as to how my students will attend school, whether they are in-person or at home, I want to ensure that they have everything they need to be successful!

Your support will ensure that my students' zip codes do not define the access to educational materials that they need to be successful.

Your donation will provide much-needed supplies, snacks, and access to office materials that will allow our classroom to function safely while still having fun!

My goal for the upcoming school year is that every student will receive their own supply box that will travel between home and school. Supplies for each student will include: crayons, colored pencils, highlighters, erasers, sticky notes, glue sticks, and dry-erase markers. These supply boxes will ensure that students do not have to share communal materials and will allow students to take them home for the potential of at-home learning. Your support will also provide us with individually-packaged snacks to eliminate the amount of touching shared items. Lastly, your donation will provide me with new curriculum materials so that I can better differentiate student learning. Teachers Pay Teachers will allow me to secure new, engaging projects and curriculum for my students that can be adapted for at-home or in-person learning.

Your support will make learning in the midst of a global pandemic possible. Your support will provide necessary materials for a strong start to our school year so that we can focus on remaining safe, staying healthy, and learning as much as we can!
