Help me give my students games and activities to build fine motor strength and dexterity without them even realizing it because they will be having too much fun!

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The majority of my students come from low income households, and many of them have dealt with more in their few short years than a lot of adults. Many of the adults in their lives have had similar experiences, and therefore might not have positive associations with school and may not be able to provide social, emotional, or academic support at home.
My goal for all the students I work with is for them to love school and feel like they are successful in some way every day.
Some students are reading above grade level, while some students continue to struggle with basic early literacy skills. Some students can deal with challenges and problem-solve a social issue with finesse, while others have a hard time identifying and dealing with their own emotions. No matter what they are coming in with though, we love them and love supporting them!
My Project
When students come into our kindergarten class, they may never have used scissors or picked up a pencil before. With modern technology, many students are also now spending a lot of time on electronic devices instead of playing.
Many of our scholars lack the strength they need in their fingers and arms to color and begin writing letters well.
An occupational therapist, who specializes in fine motor skills, has recommended activities such as these, like tweezer tasks, pinching, manipulating small items like beads, pulling through heavy putty, and cutting to build up our students' strength. These activities also correspond with what our kids need in terms of math, early literacy, and social skills, so we can't wait to have our kids have fun while building both the strength in their hands and their minds!
More than half of students from low‑income households
