This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work at a middle school on the southwest side of Chicago with a deserving group of students and staff. At my school, students are offered choice classes that are meant to suit their interests outside of the academic day. This class is meant to feel special and provide students with an assortment of positive interests. Students were surveyed, and many requested a fitness club that would help them get into shape.

I love that my students want to be healthy and have muscular bodies to match their minds.

We do not have a gym at our school, and gym memberships are pricey and outside the school's safe walking distance. Please help me secure hand weights, storage, and protein snacks to make this class a reality. (Playdoh is also on the list if a student chooses to sit out for a certain day.)
