Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 20 first grade students through remote learning. My students are brilliant, kind, courageous, and striving to do their best as they learn remotely.

My students are so excited to learn how to read.

My students are dependent on our school for meals and learning materials.

My Project

Kids need books at their reading level to learn how to read. By reading books at their level, kids experience success and joy!

My students are all learning remotely this year which means they do not have any access to physical books.

While they have access to e-readers like Epic, Epic only permits them to read until 4pm. Epic also does not have enough leveled books. In addition, my students do not have a reliable internet connection to access online books.

With your donations, each child will get a new bag of 10 books each month for 4 months. If my students were in school and if there was no COVID-19, my students would each get 10 books weekly. This project begins to provide some of the necessary literacy resources for my students to thrive.
