This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Over the past three years, Little Kids Rock and DonorsChoose have made it possible for children at our school to play the guitar and violin. We love our instruments and are using them hard...which means broken strings. We need guitar and violin strings to keep our newfound program going!

My students are incredible K-8 children who live in a high-poverty urban area of New Jersey.

They attend a public school where 100% of the children are eligible for free lunch. They are inquisitive and creative learners with an inspiring enthusiasm for music.

My Project

The students at my school get daily use out of our instruments. However, this wear-and-tear means that we go through a lot of strings. Since our school has no budget for music, this means we have unused instruments which is terrible as there are so many children who love to play. If we received these additional guitar and violin strings, it would mean that more students would be playing more instruments.

These donations will make a huge difference because music makes such a difference in the lives of children.

Students who play an instrument are 52% more likely to go to college than those that don't. Our school will be able to provide more children with instruments if we have more strings. Please help us out!
