My Students

My Adapted Physcial Education class, is a place of excitement but also a challenge for my students. The students attempt to learn new skills to the best of their abiltity.

My students have autism and often struggle with physical activities, but will always try their hardest to participate.

We have 42 students ranging in ages and class sizes (6:1:1 and 12:1:1 ratio) that will always put forward their best effort. The goal I have for my class is to teach our students activity skills that they can use outside of school to lead a healthy lifestyle.

My Project

My students need A Set of Scooters, Paddle Lollipop Badminton Set, Tennis Trainer, Net Cones, Qwiknetz, Beach Balls and Ball Supersafe Poly RG set to have the opportunity to learn new skills and be able to participate in net activities and sports such as volleyball and tennis. Recently I have taken professional development classes on how to implement "Net" activities into APE classes, such as volleyball and tennis. Unfortunately, we do not have the equipment at our school to help our students learn and be successful. With this equipment, we will be able to use the net for both volleyball and tennis activities. The beach balls can be used as lightweight volleyballs, the foam paddles and light tennis ball will help my students be more successful in the activities.

The more successful they are, the more likely they will be to continue the activities and lead them towards a healthy lifestyle.

Lastly, when my students have a good class they are rewarded with 5 minutes of "free choice" time to play. The scooters and playground balls will give my students more choices of appropriate activities for choice time.
