Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students feel stress and anxiety due to outside school influences. Drumming provides an outlet for emotional expression, allowing kids to channel their feelings in a healthy way. As children progress in their drumming skills, they gain a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence. Rhythm and dynamics in drumming can help children develop emotional regulation skills. They learn how to start and stop, speed up and slow down, and control the intensity of their playing.

Students also develop social skills such as teamwork, friendship, and communication.

There is a great need for students to develop these skills since COVID. Learning to communicate is a crucial skill that teachers need to help students develop as at-home learning in their early educational years did not give them many opportunities for interaction with one another.

In conclusion, drumming in the classroom offers benefits that extend beyond the classroom. From cognitive development, and physical fitness to emotional expression and social skills, drumming can have a profound impact on a child's overall growth and well-being.
