My Students

Immediately upon entering the gym, students get their hearts pumping by running warm up laps and soon after push-ups and sit-ups! A strong work ethic and good character is stressed every day! Students frequently push themselves to get better during every sport and physical fitness test.

My students are...AWESOME!

My students come from all sorts of backgrounds and appreciate all the teachers at our school. Our school is one of character, one of respect, and one that shows growth in every category. Our school may not be the wealthiest in the district, but our students consistently score high on tests because of the great teachers who care about making a difference.

My Project

The Jungle Gym XT suspension trainers will be used throughout the year as a way to make fitness and exercise FUN! The suspension trainers will be attached to the wall hooks I already have and will allow students with all levels of strength to be successful in developing strength. One of the benefits of the Jungle Gym XT is the versatility they have to teach students about all muscles in the body. Students can practice a modified pull-up, chest press, even do core and leg strengthening exercises in a way that most couldn't do before. At their age, some students do not have the development or strength to perform a pull-up, sit-up, one foot squat, or more, but with the Jungle Gym this will be possible! This possibility will enable the student to be successful. When a student is successful at something, they enjoy doing it! When it comes to being healthy, it would bring me no greater joy than to see all kids be successful allowing them to continue to enjoy exercise!

My project will make a difference because it will give ALL students the opportunity to develop strength and understand how to exercise in a fun way!

New physical education standards, called the Enhanced PE Standards, call for increased fitness time and understanding of how fitness impacts the rest of their lives. The use of the suspension trainers coincide with the new Illinois initiative and does so in a fun and exciting way! Teaching students to lead healthier lives will make a huge difference
