Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is a Spanish Dual language class of 24 students in a Title I school on the Lower East Side of NYC. Our students are a diverse group and despite their socio-economic hardships, they come to school eager to learn.

My students are enthusiastic and inquisitive learners; they enjoy asking questions, engaging in hands-on activities and brainstorming together to problem solve.

This year has been a huge adjustment not only for educators but for students as well. These supplies will help my students to push through each day and make the best of their school year.

My Project

Students will get the opportunity to use these stress relieving materials in the calming corner. Whenever they feel overwhelmed with stress or other intense emotions, they can use any of these materials to help them calm down.

These materials will make a difference in my students’ learning because they will help support their social emotional development.

My students will be able to use calming strategies such as using fidgets, to help give them a much needed break. In turn, they will be better able to focus on the academic material at hand once they’ve had that outlet.
