My Project

This project aims to empower our middle school students with effective stress management skills and tools in preparation for state exams at the end of the school year. These kits, filled with carefully selected sensory and stress-relief items for each teacher, will be the cornerstone of targeted classroom SEL lessons.

This project aims to decrease student stress and anxiety related to state testing, provide teachers with tools to create a calmer classroom environment, teach students practical stress-management techniques, and improve overall well-being and test performance.

It will equip students with enhanced coping mechanisms, enabling them to better manage and reduce test-related stress.

My students are resilient and they bring so much energy and enthusiasm to the classroom, even when facing challenges. Each of these resources is designed to meet their diverse needs. The bubble wands provide a fun way to teach them valuable self-regulation skills, helping them manage their anxiety. The kindness stickers encourage them to build each other up and create a positive classroom environment. The sensory toys and weighted lap pads help them manage their sensory needs and stay focused, allowing them to fully engage in learning.

This project will include a brief, age-appropriate exploration of test anxiety and its impacts, an interactive bubble breathing exercise, utilizing mini bubble wands, an introduction to a toolkit of stress-relief strategies, hands-on practice with various sensory tools and fidget toys, and a guided relaxation or mindfulness session.

By implementing this comprehensive approach, we aim to arm our students with concrete, actionable techniques to manage test-related stress. These skills not only have the potential to boost test performance but also contribute to our students' overall emotional well-being and resilience. Our goal is to transform the testing experience from one of dread to one of confidence and self-assurance.
