My Students

My 5th graders are rambunctious warrior-scholars who persevere through many social, economic, and emotional struggles and trauma in order to be taken seriously in the broader societal academic conversation. My students have been marginalized, underserved and disengaged in their schooling experiences prior to coming to our school. I work hard to spark the minds that will change the world. These Warrior-Scholars WILL make the difference because they matter, and are ready to prove it. They light up when they get to engage in hands on projects, and shine brightest when challenged to step up and perform, present, or become leaders.

My Project

As a newer school in Oakland, we serve some of the most marginalized and undeserved communities.

We have a challenging task to bring equitable, high quality educational experiences to our students that engage and matter to them.

We work to bring a holistic approach to education and learning, as we offer a full Arts programming and enrichment all the way up till the evening. We practice mindfulness and restorative justice.

We are putting STEM and Computer Science in the forefront of our educational model. STEM is the new age priority and we are working towards being at the forefront for our students, to help spark the love for learning so that our students can thrive in the global society. Our students come from all around Oakland, and have left their former schools, in order to receive the highest quality in education that they did not get from their previous educational experience. Every day, the students come up to staff to hug them to show their love, but in turn, asking us to return the favor.

We want to instill 21st Century skills to our students so they can be contributors to their communities and society as the next innovators, change agents, transformers, and difference makers. We strive to develop and challenge our students to go from blind consumers, towards critical producers of technology.
