Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title nine school, my athletes are faced with several challenges, both the classroom and on the court or field. As I watch them participate in sports I see "exceptional outstanding and talented" leaders, scholars and athletes emerge. Despite the challenges they face, I love to provide my athletes with creative and meaningful learning experiences in playing volleyball, basketball, running, flag football, softball and baseball.

The athletes spend countless hours of practicing and preparing for games on and off season.

My teams understand that it takes hard work and dedication to be successful at their sport. My teams have successfully made it to playoffs, and championships. I roughly have 300 student-athletes participating on school teams. Our biggest sports are Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball. Interest is differently growing into Girls Flag Football and all Running events.

My coaches take the max number of players on each team. Unfortunately, our supplies are beginning to show wear and tear and the student-athletes are not getting the best program we can offer.

My Project

Since our weight room machines are a little out dated and the room is going to be under construction this will allow us to use them in any setting we are placed in. Some reasons why we teach with resistant bands would be used in addition to weight training, help students to improve the quality of exercise by getting full range of muscle form extension to contraction. They help students focus on the control of the exercise. With bands you are not only working one muscle you can work on several muscles at a time.
