This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely love my special education students' resilience and enthusiasm for learning, even when faced with the challenges of reading. Many of them often feel discouraged because they struggle to read and comprehend text, but they have an incredible drive to succeed. This project will make a significant difference in their learning by helping them visualize the stories they read through laser-cut storyboard scenes. The Glowforge and wood will provide a hands-on, creative way for them to engage with the text, reinforcing key concepts like sequencing, character development, and setting.

My goal is for students to gain confidence in their comprehension and sequencing abilities while making reading more accessible and enjoyable.

By creating tangible representations of the stories, they will actively participate in their learning and feel a sense of accomplishment.

What makes my students special is their determination to overcome challenges. Despite the struggles they face, they approach each lesson with curiosity and creativity. This project will help them connect with reading in a way that feels empowering and rewarding, fostering both academic growth and a renewed confidence in their abilities.
