Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school library has a pretty outdoor terrace where our students can go outside when the weather permits to read, study, and just hangout and enjoy the outdoors. Our Green Team would like to beautify the space. Being NYC students they are usually surrounded by concreate. Adding garden planters with flowers, bird and butterfly feeders will bring the students a little closer to nature.

This project will teach the students how to create a raised bed garden, maintain it, and grow and take care of plants.

It will also teach them how to attract various birds and butterflies.

Our goal is to grow the program to include composting fruits and vegetables that are usually thrown away in the cafeteria, growing food for students, faculty, staff, and the community, and creating a generation of gardeners.
