This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher. I love being a teacher. However, teaching when I don't have the most basic supplies is extremely difficult.
The students I teach don't have much.
They don't come to school prepared. I spend most of my money at the beginning of the school year on these supplies. I don't ever want my students not to have the tools that they need to succeed. Financially supporting my students is becoming expensive. There is just so much they need.
My Project
When you're 8 years old, and you open a brand new box of crayons, the world is at your fingertips! You're filled with inspiration and can't wait to put it all on paper. There's also something about a freshly sharpened pencil that mentally prepares you to tackle that math problem! These supplies (pencils, sharpeners, markers, crayons, and white board supplies) are the most basic, and most needed for my kids. Unfortunately, they're also some of the most expensive to provide. With these supplies, my students will be ready to conquer the third grade! Their parents can't provide it, so will you help me provide it?
Please consider donating to my cause.
I fear how empty our schools supply closet will be next year. Times are tough for educators today. Budgets are being slashed, teachers are being cut, and it has it's effect on students. Please help me provide my students with the most basic school supplies!
