My Students

I run the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program at my school PS 316. Our Title One school serves children in the Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. Our diverse students, nearly 500, love Math, Reading, Writing, and Science. All students, at times, struggle to make right choices and our PBIS system offers them tangible incentives to make Safe, Respectful and Responsible choices.

Students earn Scholar Dollars for displaying expected behavior throughout the day.

The students then get to use these Scholar Dollars at our School Store to purchase anything from pens and pencils to high tech items like digital cameras and STEM Family Activities.

My Project

Pens and pencils are taken for granted. When students have an opportunity to use Scholar Dollars (pretend money) to buy educational items like fun pens and pencils. Behavior around the school is improved and students get motivational items to keep them engaged in their work.

We "sell" a range of items from our school store.

All the items in the store have been either bought by the school or donated by teachers and parents.

Our inexpensive items like fun pens and pencils sell out the fastest. Help us keep our school store stocked with the best educational motivation there is... fun pens, pencils and erasers.
