Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am fortunate to work with over 800 students at my school to help build valuable social emotional skills. Students love books with characters and situations they can relate to. I believe books are powerful tools for fostering empathy, understanding, and resilience, and am seeking donations to expand my library of social emotional picture books.

These books will be used while teaching classroom lessons on specific topics as well as with small groups of students to help learn SEL skills.

Students will learn how to process big emotions such as anger, anxiety, and frustration. They will also learn to understand and appreciate diverse perspectives and how to form healthy connections with others.

This project is especially important to me because it will help to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students can feel safe, supported, valued, and heard. I want to empower the students I work with to develop essential life skills. Please help to build a library of resources that can be used for years to come!
