Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Stock market-savvy middle schoolers need more engaging lessons. My 8th graders come to me with virtually no understanding of basic economic principles. Help me teach them the lessons that will be with them the rest of their lives.

Every year all 110 of my students participate in the Stock Market Game which SIFMA provides at no cost to public school students. My 8th graders walk away with numerous life lessons about buying and selling stocks. They crave more information about economic issues. I am willing to devote the time to these issues, but lack the supplies to provide them with engaging lessons. My students are classified as gifted and talented and can handle high school level work. The stock market project has evolved from an in class project to a full after school activity. Please help me give the kids some of the most useful knowledge they can ever acquire. Help me empower my students to make good solid financial decisions for the rest of their lives.

I use History Alive! materials extensively in my class and the kids benefit greatly from it. They are engaged and motivated. By helping me obtain the EconAlive! lessons, it will allow me to keep them interested in what I feel are the most important set of skills anyone can have: financial literacy.

Your support will help some of NYC's most financially disadvantaged kids build the most important skills in life. Economic and financial education is not a class that should be saved for the last semester of high school. Financial education is a series of skills that should be learned young. Help me to help to help them build skills and teach them lessons that will be with them for the rest of their lives.
