My Project

This proposal seeks funding to establish a year-long sewing club for middle school students at MCMS. Sewing is a valuable life skill that also offers a unique and engaging platform for reinforcing and applying concepts across multiple academic disciplines, including math, English Language Arts (ELA), science, and social studies.

This club will provide students with a hands-on experience in sewing while simultaneously strengthening their critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative skills.

Meeting twice a month, the club will offer a safe and supportive environment for students to learn, create, and collaborate.

Many students lack opportunities for hands-on, creative activities that connect directly to real-world applications. Sewing offers this connection, fostering self-reliance and resourcefulness. Furthermore, the integration of academic skills within the context of a fun and engaging activity can improve student motivation and achievement. This club will address this need by providing a space for students to explore their creativity, develop valuable skills, and deepen their understanding of core academic concepts.

Ms. Coe-Adegbite Mason Creek Middle School Grades 6-8

Celebrate Black teachers and kids! This project supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of students are Black.
