Stitching Sewing Machine

Help me give my students sewing machines. Sewing is an important life skill. Sewing not only teaches students how to sew but to give them a space to grow that skill.

My Project

So many of my students have expressed interest in learning how to sew when discussing important life skills in their sessions.

Our mental health team integrates self worth, self ownership and self awareness.

Sewing machines would allow me to teach students the basics of sewing. Students will have access to use the sewing machine for many projects such as aprons, costumes and clothing repairs.

My students are amazingly creative who love exploring their ideas and inventions and actualizing them for themselves. For the last two years, I have been hearing more and more ideas that involve sewing.

My students have very concrete visions about what they want to make and how.

We just lack the appropriate materials in the room to make them happen.

With sewing machines, students would be able to design and execute their own clothes and costumes for shows, plays, or installations, helping them bring their ideas to life. It would also give the ability to mend their own clothing giving them a life skill. They would be able to personalize their clothing exemplifying their individuality and abilities.

Students will practice social skills while creating products to gift and to sell. Our sewing machine will be a great learning tool and will teach students how to navigate various challenges.
