Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school, FLHHS, is located in the South Bronx, known as the poorest congressional district in the nation. The school falls in an area that is considered a food desert. According to the stats of 2020, the zip code that the school is in shows that 23.7% that live in the area are food insecure compared to the city average, which is 15.4%

Many of our students live in neighborhoods near the school and other areas outside of it that suffer from food insecurity, making the number much higher.

By providing snacks, students will no longer have to be mentally stressed out from hunger while learning in school.
