My Students

Today's students are being challenged to learn more than ever! Help my students get excited about science. We're challenged with performing well on state tests in science, yet we have no hands on science materials to use when teaching science. Students are bored with reading from a textbook!

My students are from low income households with either single parents or living with a grandparent.

Many of these students are considered disadvantaged. However, these students aim to please. They come to class ready and willing to soak up as much information as they possible can. These students are ready to prove to our community that we can become a successful school!

My Project

Science is a tested subject and students need more hands on activities to explore science topics. These science kits will provide small group science activities for my entire class! Currently, we read about a science topic or watch a video. If we receive these science kits, we will be able to read about our first topic, The Life Cycle, and then explore the life cycle of animals using the science kits. The students will be so excited! After completing hands-on activities and experiments, the students will use the science workbook for additional practice. The science book will allow my students to read a science passage and answer questions based on the passage. This will give them practice similar to what is expected on the state tests.

These science kits will help introduce science to students who could one day become doctors, researchers, and scientists.
