My students need seven Chromebook laptops to facilitate online research and collaboration in all subject areas through Google Drive, our PowerSchool Learning classroom, and interactive websites like Studies Weekly and First in Math.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I teach academically and intellectually gifted fourth graders at a rural school on the outskirts of a large school system. My students have varied backgrounds with a wide range of "outside of school" experiences. Our science and technology themed school is over 25 years old and our public school system serves over 50,000 students. I rely on resources that I often procure myself to ensure academic growth and content-rich experiences for all my students.
My students are naturally inquisitive, independent and innovative and their preferred learning style is through technology including online research and collaboration.
While our school has made many advancements in keeping up with 21st century learning, this process is slow-going and often lags behind in relation to the needs of my exceptional learners.
My Project
Many resources provided by our school and district are now offered primarily digitally. These Chromebooks will allow students to work independently and make more progress on their assignments while then sharing, giving and receiving feedback with their peers and me via online forums. These laptops will truly bring our classroom up to date with resources that match our current society and ultimately will line up with future high school, collegiate and professional expectations that will be put upon them.
My students are so much more motivated to learn when they have access to technology.
I can't imagine how excited they'll be to find out we'll have more Chromebooks available!
