My Students

The children in our pre-k to grade 8 building are an incredibly diverse, bright, fun-loving bunch!

They are highly motivated learners despite the economic challenges many of their families endure.

In addition to our inner-city students, the number of English Language Learners is increasing every year. Their numbers are quickly approaching fifty percent of our student body. There are over 50 languages spoken by our students. The families are often refugees without surplus money for school supplies. Many of these early elementary students have had no prior school experience before entering our building.

One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Those enrolled in the after-school program are also given dinner.

My Project

Students perk up when new materials are brought into the classroom, especially our pre kindergarten kiddos. They are quick to notice changes and begin to ask a lot of questions. It's similar to getting a new present.

New activities and math manipulatives are inviting and exciting!

We never know which lesson or activity will help a child reach that Ah-ha! moment. We often have new students, even later in the school year. We are always looking to change things up, to get more interest in the learning.

Spring has sprung and the young children get a bit antsy. Help us get them refocused and excited about learning.
