Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Creating beauty is something that the world craves. What better way to make things beautiful and personal by compiling it all in a book created by you?

My students are middle school magnet, inner city students all on free lunch programs.

They have Central/South American and Asian backgrounds. They're planning on becoming someone and have great futures for themselves. Many of them have seen and experienced things that don't always encourage that mind set of a great future.

My Project

My students need scrapbooking items such as various punches, scissors and glue! My goal is for them to create their own books filled with their writings and thoughts in a really personal and beautiful way. Much of the time in middle school, we don't get to create the way we did in elementary due to time and money constraints. With these books, students get a chance to be creative, tactile, and personal. These books will contain their writings, thoughts, poems, and other such works. I want them to look back on this year and realize all the hard work and dreams they created for themselves.

I'm hoping that students keep these books full of their work since they will be beautifully preserved and one day remind themselves of the dreams and thoughts they had as kids in middle school.
