This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Getting funding for Club Sports at any level is a challenge, and my athletes have been trying to self-fund their equipment for the past few years since this team has started. We are a HUGE campus in The Bronx, and the team is composed of students from 8 different schools! They are deserving of equipment that they do not have to pay for themselves.

These athletes are dedicated, committed, and motivated to have the best season with or without the equipment required, but I think being able to surprise them with some basic gear for the sport will really encourage them and excite them for this upcoming season!

My students range from 9th-12th graders who go to the same campus, yet attend different schools. They have been able to self-initiate this team, have created great bonds and relationships, and are working hard to achieve success this season. Even without some of the basic gear last year, they were able to be UNDEFEATED and make it to the finals! My goal is to surprise them with this new gear because I know it will make them feel more official and to recognize their dedication and passion for the sport!
