My Students

My school is located in Northeast section of Philadelphia. There are over 750 students from 6th through 8th grade. My school has over 250 students with special needs. The school is made up of resilient students and dedicated faculty and staff. The entirety of our student body lives below the poverty line and is in need of extra support in many aspects of their lives. The student receive free breakfast and lunch. Students either walk over 2 miles to attend school daily or catch multiple public transportation busses.

Our students may at times be unlikely to come to school due to lack of adequate school supplies and uniforms.

They may also attend distracted due to many stressful circumstances that they unfortunately have no control over.

The students at my school are very diverse with roughly 51% of our students identify as being African American, 29% of Hispanic descent, 9% as White/Caucasian, and 12% as Asian, Multiracial, or Other. The school follows a PBIS strategy to keep students on task and motivated.

My Project

My school uses PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) as a school wide incentive program to emphasis on students positive behaviors verse negative. Students earn 'Scholar Dollars' that they can use at the school store monthly or use at a school wide event each month. Students earn scholar dollars when they display any of the SOAR behaviors throughout the school building. SOAR stands for: Safe, On Task And Respectful behaviors. The last event of the school year will be the Carnival Extravaganza!

Your donation will help students win awesome prizes that they like during our positive behavior carnival.

The materials I have asked for you will be given to the students at each station or carnival activity that they complete. Our students deserve these amazing prices!
