Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 18-22 years old, come from diverse backgrounds, and have autism and intellectual disabilities. They are amazing, thoughtful, and determined. I am inspired by them every day, and they motivate me to do my best.

You may be wondering what makes my students so special.

To begin with, they are the most generous and kind students you will ever meet. They are always eager to lend a hand and contribute to the greater good. They have a "never give up" mindset. Despite obstacles and setbacks, they just keep on trying until they achieve their goal!

My Project

Learning to cook and prepare snacks is vital in preparing for adulthood. My students are in the STEPS Program and learning the skills to transition to independent or semi-independent living. They learn to cook, clean, and shop to prepare for their future.

To assist them in this process, I am setting up a kitchenette in my classroom and need contact paper amd more.

I want to simulate a true kitchen experience to make the transition a smooth and natural one. I hope to allow them to feel comfortable in a kitchen setting as they prepare for independence.
