My students are in need of a Chromebook that can be used for computer science activities in the field of STEM.
Jack Dorsey states, "I think that great programming is not all that dissimilar to great art.
Once you start thinking in concepts of programming it makes you a better person...as does learning a foreign language, as does learning math, as does learning how to read."
This quote resonates with me because as teachers, we need to empower all young children to become creative and confident in the field of computer science. We need to create ambitious STEMtastic stars who will strive to achieve in all areas of technology. We need to break the barriers and "level the playing field," by encouraging young girls to pursue careers in the field of STEM and in science. We need all young children to become active participants in this digital world.
By having this Chromebook, I will be able to encourage and inspire young children to develop a passion and a love of coding. The children will be able to solve real-world problems using the Hour of Code website and Junior Scratch. I plan on using the chromebook along with the Makey Makey. Students will have the opportunity to make and create their own inventions.
Once the students create their own inventions, they will become more confident, ambitious, and empowered to learn how to read code and understand the science behind it.
I believe coding is a path for everyone. Let's make my vision of creating STEMtastic stars.
