This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are 3-6th graders who live in low income/poverty neighborhoods and love using technology. The students love using their chrome books and working on the Smart Board during instructional time. Many times, when I ask students what they like to do for fun or what did they do for the weekend, they usually tell me that they were on their tablet or on the phone for the ones who has access to them. It is usually for various reasons such as doing homework or learning how to do a specific activity.
My students are lovers of Stem activities which promotes hands-on learning in which they can use their imagination, design different type things, and bring their creation to life using the sublimation printer along with the embroidery machine.
The students will have the opportunity to collaborate and share ideas when working on different projects that will be beneficial for them in the long run.
The students will learn how to use both the sublimation printer and embroidery machine to fidelity. Students will learn how to create their own shirts, mugs, etc. and while learning, they will learn math and science standards the tangible way which makes it more relatable and boost classroom engagement. Students can become so good in creating designs that one day they may open their own business and make lots of money.
With my resource/after school students learning to work both devices they will be able to make their own shirts with designs and cups etc. (which is on the list). Many of my students aren't able to purchase many new clothes to wear. What better way in them making their own shirts. This will increase students sense of fitting in/belonging and more confident when allowed to dress out at school or on the weekend.
