My Project

I teach ELA to four classes of bright and curious 6th grade students in a middle school in New York City. Every year I encounter a mixture of bookworms and reluctant readers, and I strive to provide something for everyone by offering a wide variety of books in our classroom library.

For this project, I am requesting a new selection of books for our classroom library that center on STEM topics.

Many students are interested in the popular fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. And I would like to combine those interests with support for their developing reading skills by offering a selection of independent reading books centered on these topics that students can check out of the classroom library and enjoy.
