My Project

I'm a small group reading intervention teacher. My school is a Title One school and over ninety-five percent of its' students receiving free lunch.

The neighborhood my school is located in, contains one of the largest public housing developments and most of my students reside there.

Due to the geographic location of the neighborhood, there are few trains and bus routes servicing the community, so my students are very isolated from all of the bells and whistles of the city.

This year I am teaching a STEM-themed class with a group of third, fourth, and fifth grade students. So far, the students have loved all of the STEM challenges they've completed, but I'm running out of materials to continue with these challenges through June. That's where you come in! In a few short weeks, we will be transitioning to a unit on circuits. We are requesting four different Snap Circuit kits, a STEM Scribble Bots kit, along with various other individual STEM DIY robot kits so all students have hands-on practice making simple circuits. We are also requesting a few everyday basics like a hot glue gun and double-stick tape to ensure these projects (any many others) are sturdy, along with two stretchy, sensory toys for students who may need brain breaks.

These STEM materials, simple circuitry materials, and other basics will make our class a success. Thank you for your generosity!
