We are Head Start, Mighty Mighty Head Start. We are a group of 15 students aged 3-5 who are mostly Dual Language Learners (DLL). Most of the students come from families of immigrants who are trying to provide the best for their children but sometimes need help with expanding their knowledge and give them new experiences.
My students come to school every day excited to learn and spend time with their other "family".
We are a family and all contribute to the care of our classroom. We have a loving and caring group of students who love to explore and learn.
My Project
My students love solving problems in our classroom and discussing ideas on how we can change the outcome of some of our favorite stories. The students use trial and error in every area/ center and having engineering and STEM kits will foster that learning.
My students need the Fairy Tale Problem-Solving STEM Kits 1 and 2, a Water Play STEM Kit, The Block STEM kit and a Vehicle Engineering Center.
Having the problem-solving kits will allow us to use a hands-on approach to develop the higher level thinking skills that will help the children succeed in the future. As we read some of our favorite fairy tales having STEM problem-solving kits that are based on the stories will bring them to life. The students actively discuss the problems that the characters encounter and how to change the outcome. Doing this will help them develop problem-solving skills that will be beneficial to them throughout their lives.
