Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students come to my classroom ready and often eager to learn science and math. Our school is a Title I school and these kids deserve every opportunity to grow and shine and experience success.
Ninety-nine percent of the students in my classes are Hispanic and many will be the first generation looking to go on to college.
These students are often English Language Learners which increases the challenge for them in learning the content.
My students are hardworking and deserve the best that I can offer them. My students are Kids at Hope!
My Project
With sewing machines and supplies my students will learn real-life skills sewing while learning science, technology, (art), engineering and math. As a Title I school with many of them English language learners these skills will aid them in expanding their vocabulary as well.
From threading a needle and mending holes and sewing on buttons by hand to tackling the sewing machine and using a pattern to create unique items for themselves, family members, and to donate to the community, my students will blossom and learn problem solving and gain confidence in trying new things.
This program will become a regular part of my curriculum for years to come and touch many lives beyond this year's kids!
