Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

By the end of the year, I hope to have strengthened the SEL (social emotional learning) of my students.

Our students are from many different cultures.

Our school is mostly Hispanic; White, non-Hispanic; and Asian. 40% our students are "limited in English proficiency." 97% of the 926 students here have subsidized lunches. In spite of our demographic, we are a community who shoots for the stars.

My Project

Due to lack of classroom furniture, we do not have a table to conduct conferences, meetings, and assessments. The table will be utilized for conducting our classroom community meetings, as well as student assessments. The books bins requested will house all the "Habits of Mind" book resources that we used to store the SEL (social emotional learning) instruction materials.

I am a big believer in helping students develop strategies to strengthen their perseverance, self-control, intrinsic motivation, and healthy ways to deal with stress and conflict.

This donation will allow my students to feel empowered. When students feel empowered they are more likely to take academic risks, which are encouraged in my classroom.
