Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students attend a low-income Title 1 school where they have the ability to take some advanced placement classes (AP). We designed a camping trip that will combine the information learned in the classroom and applied in a real-world setting with hands-on activities such as water testing, soil management, and basic skills like lighting a campfire and problem-solving skills.

We are excited to have already received school approval to take on this trip.

Our next step is attaining the required camping gear.

We are looking at serving about 60 students on each trip. If everything works well, we are wanting to take a trip 4 times each academic year to try to serve as many students as possible and give these individuals an experience that will further develop them in their lives.
